Waffle-y versatile

versatilebloggeraward

So it seems my particular brand of waffle has won me another award, the Versatile Blogger Award! Thank you very much to the talented Marie Ann at http://1writeway.com/ for the nomination – I really appreciate it!

And now for the science bit: http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/vba-rules/

  • Thank the person who gave you the award.
  •  Include a link to their blog.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award.
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

My nominations are:

And now, 7 things about me:

1. I’ve just eaten my last smuggled Toffypop so it’s back to Latvian biscuits for the foreseeable future. Sigh.

2. This made me laugh today. Me: (to an Advanced English class) Can you think of an abstract noun that ends with the suffix -hood? Student: Robin Hood?

3. Ironically, teaching English as a foreign language has curtailed my travels. Goodbye, exotic holidays. Hello, day trips to Cēsis.

4. Speaking of Cēsis, my recent trip has reaffirmed what I already knew. I do not enjoy climbing towers. Lanterns do not add to the experience.

5. Around 5 minutes after I’ve left my flat, I always have to look at my feet to reassure myself that I have indeed changed out of my slippers.

6. I have now been greeted with ‘Hey, you’re the Blog Lady!’ at several social occasions. So now when Latvians stare at me in the street, I’m afraid that they’re not looking at my lack of leopard print but rather plotting ways to take down ‘the Blog Lady’…

7. I have never seen a postcard that outright lied to me before so I just had to buy this…

Hmm…

Thanks again to Marie Ann and congratulations to my fellow Versatile Bloggers! I’ll try to send everyone a message over the next couple of days. (Copying and pasting all those links has taken me about 4 hours as my computer does not like multiple windows being open at the same time, so a couple of days to send 15 messages seems about right…)

And I re-nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award… just because the rules didn’t say I couldn’t AND because I think you’re that good AND because I truly think everyone’s link will lead back to you. Belly laughs … they are truly the road to the soul. Thanks for the belly laughs.

    • Expat Eye says:

Aw, thank you! I think I’d struggle to write another 7 things about myself this soon – I’m not that interesting! – but I appreciate the nomination! Keep up the good work!

  3. Gypsy says:

Thank you Expat Eye. I’m honored. And congratulations. I truly love your quirky tales.

  4. traveller says:

Wow, versatile me! Thanks a lot, I’m very pleased you thought of me:)
Love the postcard. If it’s any consolation, I’ve seen worse. I know some Greeks who once went to Southampton, in England, having been told by a leaflet that ‘it’s the city of sun, sea and sex’. And so they went and landed in the whipping sleet. Didn’t see the sun once. Couldn’t tell if the sea was ahead, above or below.
Not sure about the sex, but I imagine at the end they were probably too wet and miserable to want any:)

  5. Congratulations! I love reading your Latvian adventures. Thanks for the nomination 🙂

  6. Bob Lewis says:

Jesus wept!! Who on earth (or in Heaven!) would dare to sell a post-card like that!!
A lot of ‘blog-words’ come to my mind to describe it – but most of them would get me deported!
(I wonder if the government pays the fare if you’re deported?)

  7. You’re so popular…we’re going to know every quirky tidbit about you soon enough! 😉

  8. That’s awesome you got another award! And I see myself on your list so thank you very much. I will await your official message 😉
